The Gaza inhabitants are turning to solar energy to reduce the increasingly severe power crisis they have been suffering for the past seven years, even though solar panels remain much more expensive than generators (a panel can reach $300). Power cuts of 80 hours a week have forced institutions like the Children’s Hospital to rely on solar panels to power their basic units. The Strip has an average of 300 days of sunshine.
